Assistant Technical & Facilities Director @ Minnesota Opera

Reporting to the Technical Director, assist in artistic interpretation and technical execution of productions. Also lead facilities operations reporting to the VP, Production, executing a $750,000 yearly operating budget across 100,000 sq. ft. of space.

• Assist the Technical Director in execution of scenic design, collaborating and creating construction drawings, and creating scene shift, load in and load out plans
• Create digital 3D and 2D venue layout and shop drawings for production overviews to individual elements
• Collaborate with and direct union crews on construction of scenic elements and in-venue operations
• Assist in creating production procedures of a 250 seat black box theater after a $6.5 million dollar renovation
• Lead an internal team of 2 in facilities operation, executing a $750,000 yearly operating budget for 100,000 sq. ft. of interior building space across 3 separate buildings on 2.7 acres
• Manage a roster of 25 vendors collecting yearly and one off quotes for building maintenance and small repairs
• Work with outside vendors to propose, refine, and execute $1,000,000 in capital facility projects ranging from deep cleaning to asset modernization
• Supervise the budgetary elements of the facilities department, documenting payments averaging $1,500 dollars a week
• Focus on systems and organization across both departments, aiming to reduce overhead and improve efficiencies in physical and documentation practices
